What can we do when our kids get stuck and we feel stuck alongside them?

We can start by making sense of problems at a root level and move forward from this insight.

My Approach

The science of development and relationship meets practical everyday life (and love).

My approach to helping kids is by believing that the adults in their life are their answer. While you may not feel you have the answers to help or make sense of them, I can help fill in the pieces and provide the map to move forward with greater insight and confidence.

Based on study and clinical practice in child development and the relational-developmental approach of Dr Gordon Neufeld, I help make sense of a child’s behaviour and how the parent can provide what the child needs. This approach is rooted in developmental and attachment theory—that children learn, thrive, and reach their full potential through secure relationships with their parents and caregivers.

It is never too early to learn about how to support our child’s natural unfolding, nor too late to build and repair relationships. Sometimes the way through starts with accepting the futility of what isn’t working and looking at things through a different lens.

Who is it for?

Consultation and counselling services are available to support parents in understanding how to best understand and support their child, or themselves. I also support adults in their transition to parenthood and grandparenthood.

My work focuses on early childhood (0-7 years) however, I welcome all enquiries. Whenever additional support is considered helpful, I will provide suggestions and sometimes referrals to other helping professionals.

Support is available to any adult responsible for caring for kids and may include extended family members, step and foster parents, grandparents, educators, or helping professionals. I recognise all forms of families and the diversity that comes with caregiving.

Sometimes parents are wanting both parent consulting and individual counselling. Both can dovetail and I see this work complementing the growth of the individual. I welcome the opportunity to support both types of work during our sessions.

Where do the counselling sessions take place?

All counselling sessions take place in a virtual environment and can accommodate multiple parties from different locations.

Children must never work for our love; they must rest in it.”
